2. INSTRUCTIONS
================
This software has been designed to be as simple and intuitive to use as possible. Pop-up help tips have been provided for most of the features.
Each clock can be set by first double-clicking on its analogue clock face...
Setting the System Time
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The first clock shows your local system time. If you want to adjust the system time or the caption of the local clock on your computer you can do so by double-clicking the 'LOCAL' clock face. You can set the time manually by entering a new time in the display then clicking 'Adjust'. Or if you have an internet connection, you can set your system time automatically against universal time (UTC) via the internet. Just click 'Auto Set' and wait for the message 'TIME SET COMPLETE'. When you set the time with this method, a newsflash may appear to the left of the Retry and Close buttons.
Setting the GMT Clock
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When you use CLOX for the first time you should double-click the 'GMT/UTC' (Greenwich Mean Time / Universal Coordinated Time) clock face and enter YOUR OWN current time-zone difference. Use the built-in clickable world map if you wish. If you are observing daylight saving time (summer time) in your time zone at the moment you should add that also. Click the 'Apply' button for your settings to take effect.
Setting the Remaining Clocks
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Follow the same procedure for the other clocks. You can have a caption of your choice beneath each of these clocks. Either enter your own caption or select from the list of suggestions for the selected zone.
Please note that unless the software is registered, each time you exit the program, clocks four and five will forget the captions and time zones you set for them. They will revert to showing GMT instead. This will not be the case when using a registered copy, all your settings will be faithfully maintained.
Changing the Display
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Clicking the green, red or grey arrows on the left of the clock bar allows you to show or hide the digital clocks and day indicators or the analogue clocks. You can also change the colours of CLOX by double-clicking the small deep-yellow box to the top-right of the analogue clocks.
Keeping CLOX on Top
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you want CLOX to 'float' on top of other programs you are using, click the blue rectangle just above the green arrow on the left. Double-clicking the word 'Local' will do the same.
Setting the Alarm
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The alarm facility will flash-up a message box for the time you set.
To set the alarm, click the purple rectangle to the lower right of the analogue clocks. A dialog box will open. Select one of the two methods of setting the alarm. You can set the alarm to go off up to 99 hours and 59 minutes after it's set or you can specify a time within the next 24 hours. You can choose to have an audible alarm with a message box or just a silent message box. There is also the possibility of entering your own caption for the message box when it appears.
To stop the alarm when it occurs, click the 'OK' button on the message box.
To cancel an alarm before it occurs you can re-open the alarm dialog box and click the 'Cancel Alarm' button.
Automated Updates for registered users
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you have an internet connection, follow the instructions for setting your system time automatically then 'quadruple-click' the word CLOX on in the lower left of the window. This should both automatically update your DST file with the latest version and download the latest CLOX TIMES newsletter.
